Nothing beats a thrilling story

Thank you for visiting my website, here you will find details of all my books and some background information on the facts, people and events that inspired me to write. I am a prolific reader and in my monthly blog, I write about the best books I have recently read as well as about the general process of writing. I also have a page on wild swimming, something I love to do and which doesn’t appear to feature much in literature.

The first book in the Swimmer’s Almanac Trilogy, The Man Who Bought the World was inspired by the photography of Elena Chernyshova, and I thoroughly recommend taking a look at her images on Days of Night/Night of Days online. Elena’s atmospheric photos of Norilsk are quite beautiful. My writing about Lake Baikal was inspired by the lyrical writing of Sylvain Tesson, in his book, Consolations of the Forest. Another informative book about Russia and Russians is The Return of the Russian Leviathan, by Serge Medvedev.

I really enjoy hearing from my readers, so do contact me using the contact form.
